The CAARE Doctoral Network recently gathered in Hamburg for an intensive and inspiring training week hosted by the University of Hamburg. The program was coordinated by Irene Fernandez-Cuesta and Franziska Marie Esmek, who welcomed the group and provided access to state-of-the-art research facilities.
A central part of the visit was the meeting with EU Project Officer Ivan Ginga, focusing on project progress, impact, and upcoming milestones. The exchange underscored the ambitious goals and interdisciplinary nature of CAARE.
During the week, participants gained insight into microchip fabrication through hands-on clean-room training, and visited the DESY synchrotron to explore one of Europe’s leading large-scale research infrastructures. Additionally, the agenda included an entrepreneurship workshop, supporting early-stage researchers in understanding innovation pathways, pitching ideas, and translating research into societal and economic impact.
Beyond the scientific and professional program, the meeting offered valuable opportunities for networking, discussion, and community building, further strengthening ties within the CAARE consortium.
CAARE extends its thanks to the University of Hamburg team for their generous support and organization, contributing to a productive and memorable week for all involved.
